A Rotterdam name, international connections
The name Handelsverkeer appears in several company names. It is especially important to distinguish the parent company from N.V. Handelsverkeer Nederland–Tsjecho-Slowakije.

1946 · The Dutch-Czechoslovak company
A surviving file describes the establishment of N.V. Handelsverkeer Nederland–Tsjecho-Slowakije in June 1946. The company was intended to promote economic contacts, trade and transport between the two countries.

1948 · The parent company
The same file states that the parent company, N.V. Handelsverkeer, was founded later, by deed dated 22 April 1948. The subsidiary’s founding history should therefore not simply be attributed to the parent company.

1949 · A move to Westersingel
For the Dutch-Czechoslovak company, the file records a move in June 1949 from Van Vollenhovenstraat 21 to Westersingel 107 in Rotterdam.

1976 · Still a Rotterdam address
An American diplomatic record from 1976 lists Handelsverkeer N.V. at Westersingel 107, placing the company name in the 1970s as well. Its later development and eventual closure require further research.
